On the road again

Whats up all?

Well, its just about that time of year to head back out on the road for spring travel season. I'm going to several places including Harrisburg and Philly! Hopefully, I will come back with great new perspective students from my college fairs and high school visits. I'm still working with some great students that I met during my fall travel season so I'm hoping that this spring will be just as fruit full. I'm very excited about a rather large group of students coming to visit the La Roche campus (thank God public speaking isn't a problem for me). I think this visit will help to prepare me for my first solo Saturday visit. I'm sure in the weeks to come I'll have plenty of fun Tales to share with everyone.

Until then...

Happy New Year!

Christmas break was fantastic and much needed. I hope everyone got what they wanted this year! The top two presents that I got this year were a new digital camera (Canon Powershot...I love photography) and a new food processor (I love to cook). Every one's back in the office and working hard on admitting fantastic new applicants to La Roche. We have had a missive influx of new students applying so as you could all imagine, things have been very busy. I've been trying to get my travel schedule organized for the spring travel season. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the road and interacting with students at college fairs and high school visits! Maby I'll see you there!

YAY! It's almost Christmas!

I hope that everyone is braving the cold & snowy weather alright. Things are very busy in the office but everything is going great. Just sent out my Christmas cards to all of my accepted students and more are to come to all those who applied. For the last several days I have spent my lunches at Ross Park Mall trying to get my Christmas shopping done. I bought diamonds at Zales today, and my head must have been spinning, because I went to get onto the escalator, tripped violently, and almost fell down the stairs (that was after my fellow Admissions Counselor who shall remain nameless, tried to run me over with her car ;-) Christmas break begins in about two weeks and I can't wait. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but I haven't had a vacation in a very long time, so I'm looking forward to some time off. There is something about January that feels very refreshing to me. There is nothing better than putting the past behind you and getting a fresh start.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa and I will see you after the New year!!!

Back in the office

Whats up all?

Well, the last couple of weeks have been interesting to say the least. I was out on the road for about a week solid with not much luck at my college fairs in the eastern part of the state. This past week, I had two college fairs that went very well. For the last part of last week, I was in the office which was very helpful because I was able to learn how to process applications, as well as get a bunch of organizational stuff done in my office. I will actually get to be in the office for the majority of this week...and then next week its off to Philadelphia for a few days. I've never been to a NACAC fair, but am looking forward to it (even thought I will be missing the La Roche Open house).

On the Road

To everyone in blogger land-

Sorry its been a while. This being a new job and all, there is so much to learn and so little time to get everything done. Its been a month since I began this new career and its been insanely busy. I've been traveling all over PA and meeting a great deal of nice people (for the most part). So far my favorite place that I've been is Gettysburg. Its a very nice town with a beautiful college campus. Until about a week ago, the most students that I ever talked to during a high school visit was probably about 4. That is until I got to James Buchanan High School near Greencastle PA. While I was waiting in the guidance office to talk to the three students that had signed up to see me, the counselor made the announcement to the school that I was there and that ANYONE who wanted to see me should come down the the office. What I ended up with was an entire economics class who wanted to escape boredom. They had to move the entire group of us to the auditorium. It turned out to be 30-40 students and the best high school visit yet.

-More to come as it developes.

The New Guy

To every one who's reading this...HOWS IT GOIN!

Well, I'm the new Admissions Counselor on the block. Just as a little bit of background information on me, I graduated from Canon McMillan High School in 2001 and am an alumni of La Roche College as of May of 2006. I have my B.S. in communications, media, and technology. Why communications you ask? Because math and I don't get along! Also...I enjoy cooking, reading, and long walks on the beach ;-) I'm just about to complete my first week as a counselor back at La Roche and every one has been terrific. I went to represent the school in my first college fair and it went very well (thank god for my GPS). I'll be sure to post any new adventures as my career progresses.
